Dental veneers

Dental veneers in Casablanca

Dental veneers are thin shells bonded to the visible surface of teeth to improve their shade, shape or look. They are among the most requested cosmetic treatments, but they do not suit everyone. Dr Oussama Baji, trained in adhesive and aesthetic dentistry, studies your smile as a whole before proposing this treatment.

Ceramic or composite veneers: what is the difference?

Ceramic veneers are made in the laboratory from your impressions, then bonded: a very natural look and good stain resistance. Composite veneers are shaped directly on the tooth in one or two sessions: they preserve more tooth tissue and are easy to repair, but generally last less long. The choice depends on the condition of your teeth, your bite, your expectations and your budget.

When are veneers suitable?

Chipped or worn teeth, a shade that whitening cannot fix, small gaps, teeth of irregular shape or size, slight misalignment. Cavities, gum disease or untreated tooth grinding (bruxism) must be treated first. When a tooth is badly damaged or has had a root canal, a crown is often more suitable than a veneer: the assessment decides.

Digital Smile Design and custom manufacture

The project is planned with Digital Smile Design: you see the planned smile before any tooth preparation. Ceramic veneers (e.max or another ceramic) are then designed in CAD/CAM and made in the centre’s laboratory, in direct contact with the dentist for shade and shape. See technology and laboratory.

How are veneers fitted?

After examination and photos, an aesthetic plan is drawn up with you. The tooth is minimally prepared depending on the material, then an impression is taken. Temporary veneers may be placed while the final ones are made; they are then tried in, adjusted and bonded with a precise protocol.

Looking after veneers

Careful brushing, floss or interdental brushes, regular check-ups and avoiding biting hard objects (nails, pens, ice). With bruxism, a night guard is often advised. Lifespan depends on the material, hygiene and habits.

Frequently asked questions

Are veneers permanent?

They are designed to last a long time, but they are not forever: they may need repair or replacement after several years.

Do veneers damage teeth?

Depending on the technique, light preparation of the tooth is sometimes needed. The dentist preserves as much enamel as possible and explains the procedure first.

Can I eat normally with veneers?

Yes. Just avoid biting very hard foods and do not use your teeth as tools.

Veneers or whitening?

Whitening lightens natural teeth without changing their shape. Veneers also change shape and alignment but involve a bigger treatment.

Veneers or crowns?

Veneers cover the visible surface of the tooth; crowns surround it completely. Crowns are preferred for badly damaged teeth.
