Technology and prosthetic lab at the dental centre in Casablanca
The Smiles & Beyond Dental Centre in Casablanca brings together, under one roof, latest-generation digital equipment, a complete prosthetic laboratory with technicians present at all times, and a rigorous sterilisation protocol. Here is what this means for your care.
Digital impressions: the 3Shape intra-oral scanner
The centre uses a latest-generation 3Shape intra-oral scanner. It replaces paste impressions with an optical scan of your teeth, quick and comfortable, producing a 3D model visible immediately on screen. It is used for crowns, bridges, orthodontic aligners and implants, with great accuracy.
Seeing what the dentist sees: intra-oral camera and microscope
An intra-oral camera shows magnified images of your teeth on screen: you see for yourself the crack, cavity or gum being discussed. The microscope magnifies and lights the working area; it is especially useful for root canal treatment and fine restorations.
3D imaging and guided surgery
Digital X-rays and the CBCT 3D scanner allow implants to be planned on a computer. 3D-printed surgical guides then help place the implant exactly where planned.
Digital Smile Design: see your future smile before treatment
Digital Smile Design means analysing your face and smile from photos and videos, then digitally drawing the planned smile. You see the expected result, discuss it with the dentist, and the plan is sent to the laboratory. It mainly applies to veneers, crowns and whitening.
CAD/CAM and a complete prosthetic laboratory on site
Restorations are designed on a computer (CAD) and made by latest-generation milling machines (CAM) in the centre’s laboratory, which also has a furnace for finishing ceramics. A team of dental technicians is present at all times, in direct contact with the dentist: shade, shape and fit are discussed in the same place.
Latest-generation materials: zirconia, e.max and ceramics
Depending on the tooth and the look you want, the centre works with zirconia (very strong), e.max (lithium disilicate glass-ceramic, very aesthetic) and ceramics. The dentist chooses the material suited to your bite, the position of the tooth and your project.
Digital records, photography and lab communication
Professional dental photography, a digital patient file, archiving of impressions and X-rays, and digital exchanges with the laboratory: your record is complete and available at every appointment.
Hygiene and sterilisation: a non-negotiable protocol
The centre uses a class B autoclave with cycle traceability. Instruments are sterilised in individual pouches, with sterilisation control indicators and instrument traceability. Equipment is disinfected between each patient, a rubber dam is used when necessary, and infection prevention protocols are applied.
Care designed around the patient
Every patient receives a complete clinical examination and a diagnosis before any treatment is proposed. Options are presented where relevant, with their risks and limits, then a clear quote is given and follow-up is planned after treatment.
Frequently asked questions
What is an intra-oral scanner?
A small 3D camera moved around the mouth that records the shape of the teeth without impression paste. The 3D image appears immediately on screen and is used to make crowns, bridges, aligners or implant guides.
Are digital impressions more comfortable?
For most patients, yes: no paste, no gagging. The scan is quick and the result is visible on screen.
What is Digital Smile Design?
A way of planning the smile on a computer from photos and videos. It lets you see the expected result before cosmetic treatment and approve it with the dentist.
What does CAD/CAM mean?
CAD means computer-aided design, CAM computer-aided manufacturing. The crown or veneer is designed on screen, then milled from a block of ceramic or zirconia.
Does the centre have a prosthetic laboratory on site?
Yes. The centre has a complete laboratory with latest-generation milling machines, a furnace and a team of dental technicians present at all times.
Which materials are used for crowns and veneers?
Depending on the case: zirconia, e.max (lithium disilicate) and ceramics. The choice depends on the tooth, chewing and the look you want.
What is a class B autoclave?
A high-level steriliser designed for all types of dental instruments, including hollow ones. At the centre every cycle is traced and instruments are sterilised in individual pouches.
