Dental implants in Casablanca (Abdelmoumen)
A dental implant is an artificial root placed in the jawbone to replace a missing tooth and support a crown, bridge or denture. At the Smiles & Beyond centre, Dr Oussama Baji, who specialises in surgical and prosthetic implantology, plans every case with 3D imaging (CBCT scan) done on site.

Possible solutions with implants
An implant can replace a single tooth (single implant with a crown), several teeth (implant-supported bridge) or stabilise a loose removable denture. The number of implants depends on the available bone, the position of missing teeth and chewing forces. The dentist presents the options and the alternatives (conventional bridge, removable denture).
Conditions for a good result
Success depends on bone quality, gum health, hygiene and factors such as smoking or poorly controlled diabetes, which can complicate healing. After placement, regular follow-up and careful cleaning of the implant, like a natural tooth, are essential for its longevity. The 3D scan done on site helps plan the placement.
3D planning and surgical guides
The treatment plan is drawn up on a computer from the 3D scan and a 3Shape digital impression. 3D-printed surgical guides help place the implant where planned, and crowns on implants are made in the centre’s laboratory. See technology and laboratory.
From assessment to crown: the implant steps
After the assessment with a 3D scan, the implant is placed under local anaesthesia in the jawbone. A healing period, which varies from case to case, lets the bone bond to the implant. The crown, bridge or denture is then fixed on the implant. Regular check-ups and careful cleaning keep the result stable. Dr Baji holds a university diploma in implantology (Miguel de Cervantes University, Valladolid, Spain).

A full examination and scan to assess the bone, the gums and the best position for the implant, followed by a clear treatment plan.
Implant placement
The implant is placed under local anaesthesia, followed by a healing period.
Final tooth and follow-up
The crown, bridge or denture is fitted on the implant, then regular check-ups follow.
Frequently asked questions
Is getting an implant painful?
It is done under local anaesthesia. Moderate discomfort may follow and is usually controlled with the prescribed medication.
Can anyone have an implant?
It depends on your general health, your gums and the quality of your bone. The assessment with 3D imaging checks this.
How long does the treatment take?
It varies from case to case, especially the healing time. Dr Baji gives you a precise schedule after the assessment.
Implant or bridge: how to choose?
A bridge relies on neighbouring teeth, which must be shaped. An implant replaces the root without touching neighbouring teeth but requires surgery and healing time. The assessment helps you choose.
Who is not suitable for implants?
Untreated gum disease, insufficient bone, some uncontrolled general illnesses and heavy smoking require an assessment, even preparation, before considering an implant.
